NHL Entry Draft - Day 2 Open Thread
Yesterday was supposed to be the day where the Senators drafted an exciting new prospect into the fold, but instead chose to trade it away to bring, um, an exciting new prospect into the fold. For some reason, it just seemed less exciting without 6 members of the Senators organization taking the stage, didn't it?
Feel free to discuss the second day of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in this thread. Be sure to keep an eye out on the Senators' remaining picks:
- Third round (76 overall)
- Fourth round (106 overall)
- Sixth round (178 overall, from San Jose via Dallas)
- Seventh round (196 overall)
Many questions currently persist: Will Bryan Murray try to fill out Ottawa's forward prospect pool? Will he make some trades to add a few more picks so that his scouts don't get bored? Will he trade the 76th overall pick to the Minnesota Wild for Matt Hackett, the 77th overall pick from 2009? Only time will tell.
UPDATE: Assistant GM Tim Murray spoke to SensTV about Day 2 of the Draft, and stated that the Senators are trying hard to get a 2nd round pick because there are some players they felt were mid-to-late first rounders that have yet to be picked. He also noted, however, that it would be very difficult to get that second round pick. He later said that the team really wants to get a good forward, and will likely pass over some defensemen to get a couple more forwards.
