Moving on to the Lottery, Zub and Mete Extension Talk, and Post/Off Season Round-Ups

It’s your Thursday edition of Links, News and Notes

  • With the season over, the attention turns to the draft lottery. The Senators currently sit with the 11th best odds, but will end up between 8th and 10th. It’s a guarantee that one of Vancouver or Calgary will pass Ottawa in the standings, with the possibility that both will. Los Angeles could also pass the Sens, but their last opponent has the President’s Trophy on the line
  • It’s garbage bag day for Ottawa - we’ll have you covered if there’s any big news to come out of it
  • It was reported last night that the Sens are hopeful on extensions for both Zub and Mete. Maybe we’ll get some more word about that today
  • The shakeup continues for the Rangers, who have now fired most of their coaching staff. Could Torts be heading back to New York?
  • The biggest garbage bag day news around the league so far is Buffalo. You’ve probably heard about the comments from Jack Eichel, but Sam Reinhart and Rasmus Ristolainen didn’t sound too eager to stay in Buffalo either
  • The North matchups are fully set after the Oilers win last night, Toronto (1) vs Montreal (4) and Edmonton (2) vs Winnipeg (3). Who have you got to come out of the division?
  • The start of the playoffs has been announced - but only the start. It will kick off with Boston and Washington at 7:15 Eastern on Saturday night. No other games are scheduled yet, but the North division games aren’t expected to start until next Wednesday - the same day Calgary and Vancouver wrap their lost seasons/

Update: The NHL has released the initial schedule for all of the first round matchups, with fill-in-the-blanks for for the 1-St. Louis (4) and 2-Minnesota (3) matchups in the West. For the North, Edmonton and Winnipeg start next Wednesday, while Montreal and Toronto start on Thursday.

  • The Seattle Kraken have their first player contract - 21 year old Luke Henman. Henman had previously been drafted by the Hurricanes, but went unsigned./
