- Vladimir Tarasenko, the biggest name on the free agent market these days, is still unsigned after changing agents recently, and Ottawa remains one of the teams in the mix. Sportsnet looks at what the winger can bring to a team.
- Filip Zadina was rumoured to be part of the DeBrincat trade before being waived and having his contract terminated. It would have been kind of funny to see him come to Ottawa, but instead he's gone to San Jose on a 1 year, $1.1M contract.
- The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired a taste for human flesh, apparently, bringing in Brendan Lemieux in what I can only assume is an attempt to get ahead of the inevitable rise of the Ottawa Senators. Maybe if he bites Brady Tkachuk again, Brady will go on another scoring streak.
- Shayna Goldman of The Athletic ($) went through a few emerging trends this offseason, including longer contracts and locking up young players at an earlier age. Everyone wants to be the Sens so bad.
- Our old friend Erik Karlsson might not be any closer to being dealt than he was a week ago, but reports indicate that the sweepstakes are down to two teams: the Penguins and the Hurricanes. Dubas's Sens fandom has gone too far.
- This article has been up for a little while now, but it's still worth promoting because it's so good. Sonny Sachdeva of Sportsnet spoke to Mikyla Grant-Mentis, arguably the Premier Hockey Federation's best player, about the end of the league. Grant-Mentis is in a better position than most since she'll almost certainly get a contract in the new women's hockey league, but even she is in a difficult position.
- Sticking with women's hockey, Blake Bolden, the first Black woman to play professional hockey, spoke to People magazine about the upcoming documentary Black Ice, which hits theatres tomorrow.
