Jason Spezza traded to Dallas

Spezza going to the Big D

Well, that didn't take too long.

Hockey twitter is lighting up with news of the trade. Ottawa gets Alex Chiasson, Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul and a 2nd rounder for next year in return for Spezza and Ludvig Karlsson.

Chiasson is on the last year of his entry level deal, and had 13 goals and 22 assists in his first full season in the NHL last year with Dallas. Guptill has yet to play a NHL game, and only has 5 pro games in the AHL. Paul has yet to see action at the pro level, and spent the last two seasons with the OHL's North Bay (previously Brampton) Battalion.

Thus ends the brief Jason Spezza era, as well as the fleeting dream of having all of the Karlssons.
