Greening joins Danish league AL-Bank Ligaen for lockout
Colin Greening became the latest Ottawa Senators player to sign overseas for the lockout, when he inked a deal with the Aalborg Pirates in Denmark's top pro hockey league, AL-Bank Ligaen.
Add Colin Greening to the growing list of Ottawa Senators players joining European hockey leagues for the duration of the lockout. The Newfoundlander has signed with the Aalborg Pirates of AL-Bank Ligaen, the top professional hockey league in Denmark (although it's more of a semi-professional thing, apparently).
Aalborg has Ottawa native (Orleans, to be specific) Lou Dickenson on the roster, but no other names I'd recognize. Dickenson was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
The Pirates appear to be a pretty stacked team in the AL-Bank Ligaen: They're first in league standings, and have the second- (Kaspar Degn), third- (Matthias Månsson), and fourth-leading (Branislav Bendik) scorers in the league on their roster. The team (which has an awesome logo) appears excited for Greening's arrival.
Greening is expected to debut tonight when the Pirates take on the Frederikshavn White Hawks, and will wear number 15 on his sweater.
