Game 56: St. Louis Blues @ Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators will try to end their losing streak at six-games tonight when they host Brian Elliott and the St. Louis Blues. The Senators skid has seen them drop to eighth in the standings, three points ahead of ninth place Washington with the Capitals having three games in hand. A win tonight will go a long way towards righting the ship.

There will no changes tonight. Craig Anderson starts again, Bobby Butler is a scratch again. Here are the lines from Sylvain St-Laurent:

Colin Greening - Jason Spezza - Milan Michalek
Erik Condra - Kyle Turris - Daniel Alfredsson
Nick Foligno - Zack Smith - Chris Neil
Kaspars Daugavins - Zenon Konopka - Jim O'Brien

Filip Kuba - Erik Karlsson
Jared Cowen - Sergei Gonchar
Chris Phillips - Matt Carkner

Craig Anderson (starter)
Alex Auld

GO SENS GO!

What am I looking for tonight?

  • A win: This streak is getting long and depressing. Let's end it tonight okay?
  • Brian Elliott's return: This is Elliott's first game back as an opposition player in Ottawa. He played in Ottawa at the all-star game and got a nice applause from the crowd. Hopefully he returns to his old Ottawa form for one night though.
  • Offence: The Senators simply haven't been able to score. You can't win without scoring goals. It's pretty simple, Jason Spezza has to step up. Daniel Alfredsson has to step up. Kyle Turris has to step up. Milan Michalek has to step up. Erik Karlsson has to step up. The Senators got almost 50 shots the last game, but hopefully they can get a bit more puck luck tonight.
  • Power play: The power play hasn't scored the few times it has been given a chance. I also have no idea why Chris Neil continues to get power play time on the first unit, or any unit for that matter. To prove me wrong, maybe he will score tonight. Probably not though.
  • Craig Anderson: Anderson hasn't been playing that great either, allowing 11 goals in the last three games. An offensively challenged team needs him to make some saves.
