Game 50: Ottawa Senators vs. Buffalo Sabres
I don't know about you, but I'm actually surprised that we're already at game 50 of the season; as bad as things have been recently for the Senators, the season is flying by. But given that it's basically a lost season for the team, that's not a bad thing. The Sens take on the Sabres in Ottawa tonight for their fourth matchup of the season, and are 1-1-1 so far in the season's series.
Of note for tonight's game is the scratching of Filip Kuba for the first time this season. Fans have been calling for it for much of the year, and it's finally happened. Brian Lee will take his place on defence.
Some players I'll be watching tonight:
- Milan Michalek: Is still on fire, despite being held off the scoresheet last game. He's been the Senators' best player over the last five games, and will hopefully continue that tonight.
- Daniel Alfredsson: Just announced as an untouchable on the Senators' roster, how will Alfredsson respond to the news that (unless he says otherwise) he is a career Senator?
- Brian Elliott: Has struggled mightily of late, but typically plays well against the Buffalo Sabres. With Derek Roy and Tim Connolly both out of the lineup for Buffalo, it will be a little easier for him tonight, too.
- Sergei Gonchar: Doesn't have a point in five games. Needs more points.
- Ryan Miller: Has started 26 consecutive games, according to Scott MacArthur. That's crazy. Can he keep going?
- Jason Pominville: Seems to regularly have great games against Ottawa; will he tonight?
