Game 49 preview: Ottawa Senators @ New Jersey Devils

The Ottawa Senators will look to win consecutive games for the first time since 29 December and 3 January when they visit the New Jersey Devils tonight. Ottawa has also alternated wins and losses in the last nine games. The Devils are two points behind Ottawa and both teams are heading for an early spring barring a miraculous run.

Some notes for tonight:

• The Devils have had only 14 shots in each of their last two games. They managed to win the last one.
• The seven goals scored by Ottawa against Arizona were a season high.
• Bobby Ryan and Mika Zibanejad have both been on fire for a while now. It's the number one line at the moment.
• Erik Karlsson has now been on the ice for one more 5-on-5 goal for with the goalie-in) than goals against.
• Zibanejad is only four points behind Turris now.
• Chris Phillips will break the club record for games played but it won't be tonight. The unfortunate event will happen on Thursday.
• Patrick Wiercioch has only four points in 27 games.
• Mark Stone has 10 points in nine games while Bobby Ryan has two points in each of his last three games.
• Erik Karlsson is on pace for another 20 goal season.
• With the Capitals falling off a little, Ottawa would be seven points out of a playoff spot if they can win their two games in hand. For those of you that want to dream./
