Game 44: Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins

The surging Ottawa Senators visit the lowly Pittsburgh Penguins (HA!) tonight as Ottawa starts a run of nine games out of ten on the road. In addition to the great saviour of hockey, the Penguins will also be without Kris Letang (the hitter of Jason Spezza from behind) and Jordan Staal. James Neal will play tonight despite earlier being diagnosed with a broken foot. Brent Johnson will start in goal.

Now that I have ruined any chance of an Ottawa victory by calling the opposition lowly, I will mention that the Senators will insert Brian Lee into the lineup in the place of Matt Carkner. Ici sont les trios et duos:

Colin Greening - Jason Spezza - Milan Michalek
Erik Condra - Kyle Turris - Daniel Alfredsson
Nick Foligno - Zack Smith - Bobby Butler
Kaspars Daugavins - Zenon Konopka - Chris Neil

Filip Kuba - Erik Karlsson
Jared Cowen - Sergei Gonchar
Chris Phillips - Matt Carkner

Craig Anderson (starter)
Alex Auld

More after the jump.

Things to watch out for tonight:

  • Contain Malkin: The Penguins will be without their second and third line centres (HA! Funny Adnan!) but their top line centre is still in the lineup. If Ottawa can shut down (or contain) his line, they will have a good chance to win.
  • Heroic Karlsson: Erik Karlsson has been a Sens Hero™ in five of the last six games. What kind of performance will Karlsson deliver tonight?
  • Craig Anderson: Anderson had a bit of a strange game, making some brilliant stops, but also letting in questionable goals. He's been very good overall since being pulled against the Canadiens. Pittsburgh isn't as loaded these days as they usually are, so maybe he will have an easier time than his last visit to Pittsburgh where he was pulled in the first period after allowing four goals.
  • Brian Lee back in: Lee is back in after Matt Carkner took a couple of avoidable penalties. Is there any chance either Lee or Carkner will solidify their hold on the #6 spot at some point before the trade deadline?
