Game 10 preview: Vancouver Canucks @ Ottawa Senators

Preview of the game between the Ottawa Senators and the Vancouver Canucks on November 3, 2016.

Coming off an overtime win at home against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Ottawa Senators now welcome the Vancouver Canucks to town on Thursday night. The big story at the Senator end will be their new goaltender Mike Condon who was acquired yesterday from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 5th round pick.

After a solid performance against the Hurricanes, Craig Anderson will miss tonight's game for well-publicized personal reasons as his wife Nicholle continues her battle with cancer. Our thoughts are with the Anderson family at this rough time.

The Sens made a pair of call-ups this morning, adding Max McCormick and Fredrik Claesson to their roster. McCormick is expecting to take Stone's spot in the line-up while Claesson will be watching from the press box.

The expected lines (as per @Senators twitter) for tonight are:

Hoffman - Turris - Pyatt
Dzingel - Brassard - Ryan
Smith - Pageau - McCormick
Puempel - Kelly - Neil

Methot - Karlsson
Phaneuf - Ceci
Borowiecki - Wideman

Condon (starter)
Driedger

Some notes for tonight:

  • Mike Condon is getting his first start as an Ottawa Senator tonight. He was at the opposite end of the rink when the Sens faced off against the Habs at last year's home opener.
  • Condon has one NHL appearance this season, stopping all 7 shots he faced in a relief role against the Nashville Predators.
  • With five goals in nine games so far, has Kyle Turris proven himself to be a number one center in the league?
  • Dion Phaneuf lit the lamp for the first time this season last game against the Hurricanes.
  • The Canucks are on the back end of back-to-back games after losing 3-0 to the Montreal Canadiens last night. Can the Sens take advantage of a tired and beaten squad?
  • The two teams last met a week and a half ago in Vancouver, with Anderson posting a shutout 3-0 victory.
