Five Dates to Mark on Your Calendar

A look at the 2014-2015 schedule and some dates to look forward to for Sens fans.

The season is still a month away, but that doesn't mean we can't start anticipating specific upcoming games. Here's a list of five games I'm looking forward to this season. Have a diferent game in mind? Tell us in the comment section!

Colorado Avalanche at Ottawa, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 7:30 pm

The home opener is always something to get excited about.

Buffalo Sabres at Ottawa, December 29, 2014 at 7:30 pm

This game might be the most unremarkable game on the list. Why is it on here? It's the fourth game in the Red Scarf Union's Sens Supporter Section group of 10 targeted games. The first three games (the home opener, followed by games against Toronto and Detroit) are all marquee match ups. A Buffalo game in the middle of the holiday season might prove to be the toughest sell of any of the 10 games. Here's hoping the success from the first three Sens Supporter Section games carries over to the Buffalo game.

Senators at Boston Bruins, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1 pm

Barring injury, this will be Chris Phillips' 36th game in 2014-2015. Why is that important? It means Phillips will take sole possession of the top spot on the Senators all-time games played list, passing Daniel Alfredsson who is tragically stuck on 1187.

Dallas Stars at Ottawa, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 7:30 pm

Jason Spezza's return to Ottawa. It should be an important night, even if it pales somewhat in comparison to #11's return in December 2013. Hopefully Spezza is honoured before the game for his long tenure and excellent play with a tribute appropriate for his stature in the team's history.

Senators at Anaheim Ducks, Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 10 pm

This game kicks off Ottawa's five-game western road trip. The Sens got this trip out of the way to start the 2013-2014 and it set the tone for the whole campaign. Just because this trip comes later in the season it's no less important for the team's chances of making the playoffs.
