Colin White’s time with the Ottawa Senators ends as buyout looms

When Colin White signed a six-year contract extension with the Ottawa Senators in the summer of 2019, it was supposed to usher in a new era for the hockey club. After watching a steady stream of popular players leave town, White was the first member of the young core to sign on the dotted line for a contract extension in Ottawa. And the Senators were happy to trumpet his extension as a sign that better days were on the horizon. Thank you so much for giving my family an update on this on your website. The National Capital Commission’s board of directors will gather Wednesday for a private session. Then, 30 minutes is to set aside for an update on the LeBreton Flats project which is on the public agenda Thursday. At that time, a deal with a preferred bidder for a major events centre is expected to be announced. It’s really a nice and helpful piece of information. Wideman torn Hamstring

Am I the only one, who thinks Malkin looked like he was applying extra pressure on Wideman? I don't like the Penguins...

Zack Smith signs 4 year extension

I know some will be disappointed by this news. Not because Z Smith is a bad player, but rather he could have been flipped for a high draft pick.

Jack Rodewald Signs AHL Contract

Rodewald has eight goals and four assists in 21 games. He's also currently on a four game point streak.

A "Sketchy" Sens Christmas

The Sens' annual Christmas video was released today, this time bringing in a caricature artist to draw Christmas cartoons of Sens players while they're being interviewed about Christmas-related things. Chris Phillips also makes an appearance next to Curtis Lazar (of course). You can watch videos from previous years here, here and here. Hope everyone has a merry Christmas!

Cowen's Hearing to Take Place in October

Looks like the Sens' plan to re-sign him after he gets bought out has been delayed until early to mid-October.

Mike Fisher to be Named Nashville's Captain

Mike Fisher's expected to be named the Nashville Predators' 6th captain. The press conference will take place September 8th at 12:30 (1:30 EST). Fisher was drafted by Ottawa in 1998, and played 675 games for the Sens before being traded to Nashville. He will become the third former Senator to currently be a captain elsewhere, along with Zdeno Chara (Boston) and Nick Foligno (Columbus).
