Erik Condra signs 2-year, $2.5M deal

So much for arbitration!

Per TSN's Darren Dreger, Ottawa Senators winger Erik Condra has signed a two-year deal worth $2.5M:

The deal is almost certainly a one-way, and just about doubles Condra's last one, a two-year deal worth $1.25M.

Condra is lovingly mocked among Sens fans for his inability to finish plays, but his intelligence and possession skills make him an extremely valuable linemate to young centers, and his ability to play on the penalty kill is a big reason why the Senators' PK has been so strong under head coach Paul MacLean.

In short, this is a well-deserved raise for a valuable bottom-six player that still fits within Ottawa's budget. It's a great signing all around, and a great sign that Condra and the Senators avoided arbitration, which can get messy and unpleasant.

It also means he'll get waived and claimed by Boston. Right?
