Deep Thoughts with Jarrod Maidens and other Senators prospects
Although Ottawa Senators players were late adopters of Twitter, more and more guys affiliated with the organization are signed up with the micro-blogging service. With that in mind, I figured the time is right to share some of the most insightful commentary from them with those of you who may not follow Twitter too closely. It remains to be seen how frequently we publish this feature, but let us know what you think; if it's popular, we may publish Deep thoughts weekly; if not, we'll see.
First up, newly drafted centreman Jarrod Maidens. Maidens, like many of us, was getting in on the action during the first day of the London Olympics, and admiring the, ahem, skill of the women's volleyball players:

They are very skilled, I can attest to having witnessed that as well. It's easy to get distracted while watching their skilled play, however; very easy.
Moving on to some more cerebral thoughts from a few more youngsters, plus Lehner's Lair--featuring the exploits of our most eclectic goaltending prospect...
Derek Grant will be entering his third season with the B-Sens in 2012-13, but can be considered among the veteran players on the back-end. I assume he was inspired to tweet the following while shopping at Sears or HomeSense or something...

Prospect Stefan Noesen is the first to hashtag his #PonderingTweet, wondering what the Oreo cookie looked like 100 years ago, and during the intervening years during its lifetime:

According to this overstated About.com article about the history of the Oreo cookie, it's changed little in the 100 years. Two more interesting facts, courtesy of Time: Oreos weren't a kosher option until 1998, and they initially launched with a delicious-sounding lemon-meringue flavour. Oreo admirably celebrated their 100th birthday by announcing their support for gay marriage, meaning I can finally eat a cookie without wondering where its manufacturers stand on the controversial social issue.
Back to hashtags, prospect Robbie Baillargeon wins the award for most poorly chosen one by selecting the roman numeral associated with this year's Olympics and accidentally linking his tweet up with those of a less SFW nature:

Last time I checked in with Robin Lehner he was staring down juvenile moose on Swedish highways, but this time he's wearing a badass leather jacket celebrating his friend who, evidently, loves "push."
