Cost Per Pointcast, Ep. 91: 2021 Draft Recap ft. Ary M
Ary M joins the show to recap an “off the board” draft for the Senators
You can certainly say one thing about the Ottawa Senators front office: they’ve got guts. They have been known to go “off the board” with their draft picks, and this year was probably the biggest example of that. That doesn’t necessarily make it a bad thing, but it seems that they are confident in doing things differently. To recap the 2021 NHL Draft, my colleague Ary M joined the show! Topics include:
-Joey Daccord getting taken by Seattle
-All 6 prospects the Senators took and what their outlooks are
-How the Senators are trying to build their team
-The Logan Mailloux selection by Montreal
In regards to the last point, Ary and I had a good discussion about how abhorrent it was for Marc Bergevin and the Montreal Canadiens to select Mailloux. We go in-depth about it in the episode, and Ary mentions some fantastic resources including the Assaulted Women’s Helpline and the LGBT YouthLine, which he and I will be donating to. If you would like to donate as well, that would be very much appreciated! We need to remember that things like the Mailloux charges and the Brad Aldrich allegations are opportunities to have conversations about how other victims can be supported as well because sadly these problems persist. Nobody wants to have these discussions instead of hockey, but some topics transcend the sport and it would be irresponsible to simply ignore them.
Anyway though, here is the episode and I hope you enjoy!
