Candidates for the Sens' First Round Pick
With Ottawa set to make their first-round draft choice on Friday, I figured it would be helpful to make a quick list of some of the mock drafts that have happened in the past couple of weeks to illustrate the most likely candidates to don an Ottawa Senators jersey. I've also linked each player to their NHL.com profile page, which is a good starting point for information.
In case you missed it, our SBNation Mock Draft selection was Nazem Kadri.
Other NHL Mock Draft selections at #9:
Also, though none of the following were picked at #9 in those mock drafts, they are favourites to be drafted in the top ten or twenty of the first round, so don't be surprised if the Senators end up with one of these fellows:
Carter Ashton (RW), Simon Despres (D), Oliver Ekman-Larsson (D), Ryan Ellis (D), Tim Erixon (D), Scott Glennie (RW), Jacob Josefson (C), Chris Kreider (C), Louis Leblanc (C), John Moore (D), David Rundblad (D).
Or, in the end, Bryan Murray could end up calling the name of someone that nobody had pegged at #9. Sometimes, the man is full of surprises (see: Karlsson, Erik).
Be sure to check back here Friday evening for our analysis of Ottawa's first-round pick, and then Saturday and Sunday for full coverage of Ottawa's other picks.
