It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone familiar with Brianne Jenner, but it's still exciting to have it confirmed: the two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and Team Canada veteran was officially named captain of PWHL Ottawa in a press conference this afternoon.

Jenner, 32, captained Canada's u18 team in 2009, and the Calgary Inferno in 2016-17. She has also served as an alternate captain for Team Canada in most international tournaments since 2015.

The reigning Olympic MVP was among the first players to sign in Ottawa as a free agent, and will almost certainly play on the first line this season.

One of the other free agent signings, Emily Clark, will wear an "A," as will team USA defender and former Ohio State captain Jincy Roese.

All PWHL Ottawa games will be broadcast on TV and streamed on the PWHL YouTube channel.
