Alfredsson gets hat-trick, Sens beat Bruins 5-1

Alfredsson with a natural hat-trick
Daniel Alfredsson managed a natural hat-trick in the game, the ninth hatty of his career. The best part of it was seeing Tim Thomas pulled after Alfredsson's second. After watching far too many games where Thomas has put up a wall in front of the Senators, it was nice to see him look human. Alfredsson's father, Hasse, looked only marginally impressed at his son's achievement.

Fisher with the assist hat-trick, Kuba with two
After a five game pointless drought, Fisher now has six points in his last three games. It's good to see him getting back on the scoresheet. The frustratingly inconsistent Filip Kuba put up two assists of his own as well.

Kovalev and Cheechoo doing what they're paid to do
It's rare for either Alex Kovalev or Jonathan Cheechoo to score in a game, it's even more rare for them both do it in the same one. Kovalev scored a backhander off a nifty Fisher pass, while Cheechoo's assist came from the referee.

Brian Elliott is a regular Mike Brodeur
Elliott made a number of key saves today, stopping 22 of 23 shots. It's great to see Elliott have this kind of game, especially against a team that Ottawa has historically struggled against.

Hey, what's this discipline thing all about?
The Senators only took four penalty minutes during the game, while the Bruins were given twelve. And yes, Ottawa even decided to take advantage of this discrepancy and scored on a powerplay. I can hardly believe it, either.
