Ottawa Senators Re-sign Logan Brown

The two sides came to terms on a 1 year deal

The second biggest Ottawa Senators’ holdout is over: Logan Brown has signed a one year, two way deal. After much speculation that Brown’s time in Ottawa had reached its end, it appears that both sides have agreed to give it one last kick at the can. Here’s what Pierre Dorion had to say about the young forward in the press release announcing the signing:

“Logan is among the most talented prospects in our organization,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “He possesses many of the tools that could ultimately help him find success in the NHL. We’re hopeful that a productive summer translates into a good training camp for him here beginning next week.”

Normally when the Sens announce a signing, Dorion tends to be a more effusive in his praise; “He possesses many of the tools that could ultimately help him find success in the NHL” is not exactly a ringing endorsement. Clearly the Sens were unable to secure a trade for their 2016 first round selection, and now want to see if there’s a possibility of rebuilding his value. There remains an outside possibility that Brown plays himself back into the team’s plans, but given the existing acrimony if the lanky centre is still with the organization in a couple of years’ time it would be a big surprise. For now, however, he’ll report to camp and the saga will continue.
