Ottawa Sends Braydon Coburn to the Islanders for a Seventh-Round Pick
The big defender is off to Long Island.
Within minutes of dealing Mike Reilly to the Boston Bruins, the Ottawa Senators moved another defenceman, sending Braydon Coburn to the New York Islanders for a seventh-round draft selection in 2022.

Acquired by the Senators from the Tampa Bay Lightning in December 2020, in a move that also sent Cedric Paquette and a 2022 second-round pick to the nation’s capital, Coburn appeared in 16 games for Ottawa this season. He tallied two assists, and 10 penalty minutes. Coburn mainly played a rotational/taxi squad role, ultimately losing minutes to the likes of Reilly, and Erik Brannstrom after beginning the season in the starting lineup.
The 36 year-old Shaunavon, Saskatchewan native is a veteran of 980 NHL games, split between the Senators, Atlanta Thrashers, Philadelphia Flyers, and Tampa Bay Lightning. An eighth overall selection of the Thrashers in 2003, Coburn won the Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay last season, appearing in three games on the playoff run. He has a total of 49 goals and 185 assists for 234 points over the span of his career.
There is no salary being retained by the Senators.
