Game 30 Preview and Open Thread: Ottawa Senators @ Edmonton Oilers

New, comments

Have you had enough of the Oilers yet?

NHL: Ottawa Senators at Edmonton Oilers Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports

One more before we go home and play our favourite team to beat. The series with the Edmonton Oilers has been a complete disaster and every game seems to be another issue. On the bright side, what we thought could be a season ending injury to Colin White turned out to be much less serious and at this point we’ll take any positives we can get.

The Sens don’t have to face the Oilers again until April 7th at home but I’m not even sure that’ll make a difference. The Sens boast about the importance of good starts but have failed to sustain any real threats against the Oilers.

Tkachuk - Tierney - C.Brown
Paul - Norris - Dadonov
Stützle - Anisimov - Batherson
Bishop - Peca - Watson

Chabot - Zaitsev
Reilly - Zub
Wolanin - Gudbranson

Daccord (probable)

Game Notes

  • Ryan Dzingel is a game time decisions, based on how the last few games have gone I really hope he’s ok to play. Again though, in a season like this one there’s no point in rushing a game if we don’t need to; and we really don’t.
  • We all admire the plays of McDavid but the Sens are giving him and Draisaitl way too much respect and admiration. It really starts with containing these two.
  • Josh Norris has impressed me all season but he needs to start producing a bit more. Alongside Brady Tkachuk, I am expecting a big game from both tonight.
  • If you’re wondering who that Bishop guy in the lineup is, let me introduce you to Clark Bishop who was acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes in the Max Lajoie trade.
  • I really want Matt Murray to do well but he needs a huge bounce back game to restore any confidence in his play going forward. The losses weren’t all his or Daccord’s faults but Murray has let in way too many soft goals to defend. DJ Smith mentioned going with the hot hand in goal but with both goalies coming off losses, who is referring to?
  • Wolanin is playing tonight. That’s all that needs to be said.
  • You can catch the game at 9:00PM on Sportsnet, RDS or listen Live at TSN1200.
