Ottawa Senators Name Brady Tkachuk Captain

The writing has been on the wall for a long time, but the Ottawa Senators have officially named Brady Tkachuk the 10th captain in franchise history!

The Senators tweeted a hint this morning followed by the official announcement.

Brady Tkachuk had nothing left to prove to earn this title. His performance with the team ever since he joined the Sens has been nothing but exemplary and he thrived on being in a leadership role. With the long term contract in place, I think fans have been waiting for this announcement and it comes at a perfect timing as Sens have had a frustrating few games so good news was needed.

Brady Tkachuk follows in the footsteps of past leaders such as Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson. While he may not be Alfie, I think Tkachuk will do a fantastic job making the Sens his team especially with the young core expected to carry the Sens into the next phase.

Tkachuk will be supported by Thomas Chabot as a full time alternate and the rotating group of alternatives Connor Brown, Nick Paul and Nikita Zaitsev.

Go Sens Go!
