Tuesday was a practice day for the Ottawa Senators, after a close Monday night preseason loss to the Maple Leafs. Here’s what you need to know from Tuesday’s camp:
- DJ Smith provided an injury update for Colin White and it’s not looking good. The team hasn’t commented on whether or not White will require surgery after an awkward fall on his shoulder on Monday night, but the way it was phrased doesn’t look good. Smith used the words “significant amount of time” so, I think we can expect to be without White’s services for at least a month.
- Tuesday’s lines had two intriguing flips. First, Tim Stützle was seen skating on a line with Josh Norris and Drake Batherson. Second, Victor Mete and Josh Brown were paired together while Nick Holden and Erik Brännström were partners. The intriguing thing here is that, in my opinion, Holden is a lock for opening night so him getting paired with Brännström makes me wonder where Smith’s head is at with the young Swedish rearguard.
Tuesday practice lines:— TSN 1200 (@TSN1200) October 5, 2021
Injuries-Bishop, White, Kelly, Crookshank.
Paul Pinto CBrown
Formenton Tierney Ennis
Sanford Agozzino Watson
Stützle Norris Batherson
Shaw XXXX Sabourin
Del Zotto Zaitsev
- With injuries to both White and Clark Bishop, there’s an opportunity for players who may not have been on the radar a week or two ago to secure a spot down the middle. Andrew Agozzino appears to be getting an opportunity to show what he has and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nick Paul get some reps at centre, depending on how things go.
- The Sens are practicing at 10:30am this morning ahead of another clash with the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow at the Bell Centre.
