Pleasant Surprises
In our Weekly Question, we ask: Who’s been the most pleasant surprise?
At the fifteen game mark, the Sens stand 5-9-1. Their record is about what we were expecting at the start of the year, but there have also been some pleasant surprises along the way to give fans a bit to cheer about.
The trade for Vladislav Namestnikov has paid off in a big way, with the Russian netting five goals and five assists for ten points in 13 games. Similarly, Connor Brown’s increased point production in an expanded role has been a real bonus on top of his usual grinding forecheck. Two players that were deemed expendable by their former teams helping to keep the Sens competitive in the early part of the year.
More recently, the emergence of Nick Paul as a driving force of the team’s checking line alongside Brown and Jean-Gabriel Pageau has given hope to the many that wondered if he could ever establish himself as a regular NHLer.
