Ottawa Senators Select Jonny Tychonick 48th Overall

The BCHL defenceman is the Sens’ newest prospect.

The Ottawa Senators have selected defenceman Jonny Tychonick with the 48th overall pick. This was the pick the Senators acquired yesterday by trading down with the New York Rangers.

Tychonick, a native of Calgary Alberta, scored 47 points in 48 games for the BCHL’s Penticton Vees. Serving as an assistant captain, he turned up the pace even more in the playoffs, leading his team with 17 points in 11 games. In the end he was named a first team All-Star, and is committed to play for the University of North Dakota next season.

You can read more about Tychonick from when we profiled him as a potential defenceman to take 22nd overall.

Welcome to Ottawa, Jonny Tychonick!
