Senators Select Drake Batherson 121st Overall

The Senators have made their third pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

With the 121st selection in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, the Ottawa Senators have selected Drake Batherson from the QMJHL’s Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Batherson is a 6-foot-1 centre recorded 22 goals and 36 assists in 61 games during his second season with the Screaming Eagles. He also put up strong postseason numbers, racking up 7 goals and 5 assists in 11 games during the team’s two-round run. At one point, he was leading the league in points during the second round.

He is an over-ager, but the Senators are catching the 19-year-old immediately after a breakout season.

Below is his first ever goal in the QMJHL. It’s a beauty.
