It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

The 2018 World Junior Championships kick off today in Buffalo, with four prospects for the Ottawa Senators representing their country in the quest for the gold medal. Those prospects are:

Drake Batherson, RW/C (Canada)

Logan Brown, C (USA)

Here’s some more links that may be of interest in preparation for the tournament:

  • CBC’s feature on Logan Brown, who is expected to be USA’s first line centre.
  • From the town of Drake Batherson’s junior team, the Cape Breton Post had a good feature on him this week.
  • Here is Batherson’s reaction interview to making the final cut for Canada. His father Norm, who formerly played for the Sens’ AHL affiliate, also weighed in on his breakout season and selection.
  • The NHL previewed every team at the tournament, which you can find here and here.
  • The Athletic’s Corey Pronman (note: paywall) did a more in depth preview, looking at every player on Canada, USA, and the top Europeans.
  • Finally, you can find preliminary line combos for Canada, Finland and USA./
