Ahead of their trip to Stockholm, Sweden, the Ottawa Senators will be bringing two extra players: forward Nick Paul and goaltender Marcus Hogberg. Paul will serve as the team’s 13th healthy forward, while Hogberg joins as the emergency backup.

Paul, who was acquired from the Dallas Stars in 2014, currently has five assists in 11 games for Belleville thus far, putting him in a tie for third place in the team’s scoring race. The 22-year-old winger has seen NHL action in the previous two regular seasons, playing 24 games in 2015-16 (five points) and one in 2016-17.

Although he’s had a rough start to the season, Marcus Hogberg gets the call over Danny Taylor as Ottawa’s third string goalie. Only recently was he even called up to the AHL, after posting a dreadful .863 save percentage in his first three ECHL games. Despite this, he’s still Ottawa’s top goalie prospect, with his dominant performance in the SHL last season. A native of Örebro, Sweden, his nationality may have also played a factor in his call-up.

The Sens head to Sweden for the 2017 NHL Global Series against the Colorado Avalanche, facing them twice on Friday and Saturday.
