Senators Send White, Chlapik, McCormick to AHL

The forward corps is regaining health.

Ottawa’s forward corps has gone through a rough streak of injuries in the past week, and with the team regaining health, some of the call-ups have been re-assigned to the Belleville Senators (AHL). The three players are Colin White, Filip Chlapik and Max McCormick, who combined played only three games in the short stint.

White has been injured ever since breaking his wrist blocking a shot in pre-season. Now that he’s off the injured reserve, the Sens are finally able to send him down. Unlike McCormick and Chlapik, who will be in the lineup today as the Belleville Senators face the Manitoba Moose for the second straight night, White is expected to make his season debut on Wednesday for the B-Sens’ home opener.

Chlapik and McCormick’s stints were both very brief, playing one and two games respectively. Chlapik recorded his first NHL point against the Flyers, while playing 6:49. McCormick played nearly 16 total minutes in his two appearances, with only a single shot on goal to show for.

Returning from injury is Zack Smith (who played last night), and likely Kyle Turris, who has missed the last two games with the flu. Bobby Ryan is expected to be out for four weeks with a broken finger, leaving a spot still open for Chris DiDomenico or Jack Rodewald. Whether or not they play depends on the status of Turris, or whether Boucher decided to play six or seven defencemen.
