Erik Karlsson's First Period Assist is a Big One

Now with 81 points, Karlsson has accomplished quite the feat.

With the second assist on Mika Zibanejad's first period power play goal, Erik Karlsson accomplished a couple impressive feats.

With 81 points on the year, he now has the most in a season by a defenseman in the last 19 years, passing Nick Lidstrom, who had 80 points in the 2005-06 campaign.

Also, with his 65th assist on the year, Karlsson has the most assists in a season by a defenseman in the last 18 years, surpassing Lidstrom once again.

The Swedish sensation is already 3 points and 6 assists ahead of his previous career highs in both categories.

Oh, and Karlsson isn't done yet. He's still got one more game left to keep breaking records.
