Senators Shutdown Kyle Turris

The Senators have officially shutdown Kyle Turris.

It's the right move.

The Senators have officially shutdown Kyle Turris due to a high ankle sprain.

It's rather obvious as to when and where Turris was first injured. On Dec. 5 during a game against the New York Islanders, Turris' leg got caught under Casey Cizikas on a broken play. What followed was one of the most cringeworthy moments of the season.

With the 26-year-old rightfully hanging up the skates for now, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun brings up a strong point. The door has definitely opened for another player.

The Senators seem all but done for the season. With their No. 1 centre out, it only makes the four-point margin between them and the eighth seed Pittsburgh Penguins - who have 3 games in hand - that much bigger.
