Head coach Guy Boucher confirmed a forward has been banged up, so Blunden will make the trip to Buffalo just in case.

The Senators announced today that Mike Blunden will be called up from their AHL affiliate in Binghamton.

Head coach Guy Boucher mentioned there was a forward on the team that is “banged up,” which explains the need for Blunden’s attendance. Though, the coach wouldn’t say which forward. It’s also still not determined whether or not the forward will be out for tonight’s game against the Buffalo Sabres.

In Binghamton, Blunden sits second on the team in points with four (3,1) in nine games. The 29-year-old was signed by the Senators on July 1 to a two-year, two-way deal.

In 124 NHL games, the Toronto native has recorded seven goals and six assists.

Another change for tonight’s game; Mike Condon will start in goal as Craig Anderson will be given the night off. Boucher said today that the team’s performance in Nashville was the worst of the season.

Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. ET tonight at the KeyBank Center.
