Senators Send Thomas Chabot Back to Junior

The Ottawa Senators announced today that they’d be sending rookie defenseman Thomas Chabot back to the QMJHL.

While the Senators are about to lose their talented rookie defenseman, the Saint John Sea Dogs are about to regain their star player.

Ottawa announced this morning that Thomas Chabot has been sent back to the QMJHL.

While Chabot played one regular season game with the Senators, he sat nine. Playing a total of 7 minutes during his time with the NHL club, it was questioned whether Ottawa should’ve kept him for so long.

The 19-year-old returns to a Sea Dogs team currently sitting third in the QMJHL standings.

Speaking with him in the summer, head coach Danny Flynn was adamant that his team would be far better than last year when they lost in the semi finals. If that is the case, Chabot will be surrounded by a talented and competitive team, one which he’ll be playing 25-plus minutes a night alongside.

It’s very possible this could be the last season the St. Marie, Quebec, native isn’t dawning a Senators jersey for 82 games straight.
