Last season, Hoffman led the team (and all rookies) with 27 goals. Bobby Ryan only scored 18, on the back of one goal in his last 20 games, a far cry from the four-straight 30-goal seasons he had to start his career. Which of these two will score more goals this year? Bonus: predict the number of goals each will score.
Trevor: I'm expecting a bit of a resurgence this year from Bobby, which is what last year looked like for him up until February. I'll say Ryan slightly edges out Hoffman in goals by a total of 26 to 23.
Ary: I think Hoffman outscores Bobby again this year, but that they both end up with 20+ goals. 24 for Hoffman, 22 for Bobby.
Peter: Bobby Ryan 34 goals, Mike Hoffman 19 goals.
Richard: They will both score 24 goals and Mika Zibanejad is going to look really good in helping them to get there. We’re going to be a bit frustrated at times with this line’s production and consistency, but they’re going to play a great, balanced game and we’ll see more offensive and defensive highlight reel clips from these three than anyone else.
Ross: I'll pick a tie here. Both Ryan and Hoffman will score 25 goals.
Callum: Feels weird to actually predict this, but Mike Hoffman will outscore Bobby Ryan this year by a score of 25-23.
Michaela: I think Ryan is going to make a comeback this year. He of all people knows that he didn't play up to par last season, and it seems like he's motivated enough to change that. That being said, I don't think Hoffman will be far behind him. I can see Ryan with 28 goals, and Hoffman with 25.
Ian: Ryan will score more goals than Hoffman and he'll break out of his funk by scoring an even 30 goals. Hoffman will score 20 this year.
B_T: Hoffman will score more goals, with Bobby Ryan becoming more of an all-around player. Hoffman will score 29, Ryan 22.
Adnan: It is difficult to go with Hoffman because of how easily he gets benched so you have to go with Ryan, but I think Hoffman would beat him out if they both received an equal opportunity. Ryan will score 24 goals, Hoffman will score 19.
