Mayor Jim Watson and Senators president Cyril Leeder both talked on TSN 1200 yesterday about the possibility of the Sens and Habs playing an outdoor game at Parliament Hill. The game would help to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the first NHL game, played December 1917 between the Canadiens and Senators. Though the football stadium at Landsdowne makes more sense as an outdoor venue, it's hard to argue with the backdrop of the Peace Tower for an outdoor game.
Another reason the Sens might pursue this angle is increased revenue. Using the Lansdowne venue would require sharing a good portion of profits with the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, who own TD Place.
