Silver Nuggets: New Features

New, comments

Looking for community input on features you'd like to see in the fall. And as always, your semi-weekly list of Sens links.

This is a little bit of a different Nuggets format, asking for feedback from you, the community. In the regular season, Silver Seven has a few regular features during the week:

  • Monday: Ups and Downs, a look at how each player performed during the games of the past week
  • Tuesday and Friday: Silver Nuggets, a bunch of Sens links from the past few days
  • Friday: In addition to Silver Nuggets, there's Five Thoughts, a series of quick reflections on big events of the past week
  • Saturday: Weekly Question, a question open to the community about something buzzing about the Sens recently
  • Sunday: Week Ahead, in which B_T takes you through the Sens games of the upcoming week, including start times, TV details, and players to watch on the opposing team

Now if my math is correct, that leaves two empty days of the week. For the upcoming season, I think it would be good to add a couple recurring features. I'm looking for input on features you might like to see start up in October. Here are a couple of ideas I've had:

  • Mailbag: a feature in which people can submit questions throughout the week, and then one of the staff members does their best to answer them
  • Advanced stats explainer: there are new tools developed all the time to try to help illustrate stats, but it often takes a whole article just to figure out how to read the chart. Each week, someone would explain a term or chart used in the advanced stat world
  • Prospect profile: a writer could do an in-depth profile of a prospect in the Sens' system, playing in Binghamton, junior, or overseas
  • Sens history: a look at memorable moments from the past 23 years (and counting) of the franchise

Obviously, this is not an exhaustive list. I'm looking for more ideas in the comments! If enough people like a feature you suggest, you just might see it on the blog when the season starts!
