In what has become a New Year's Eve tradition at the World Juniors, Canada and the United States face off once again to decide which country will take top spot in Group A. Canada currently has a one point advantage in the standings, having won all games in regulation. Most recently, the Americans defeated Slovakia 3-0 and the Canadians defeated Finland 4-1. The U.S. has never won the New Year's Eve game against but got some measure of revenge in 2013, when after having lost the New Year's Eve game, knocked Canada out of the tournament with a dominate win.

If it's possible, this game might have more hype than previous match-ups because of the Connor McDavid-Jack Eichel angle. Both top prospects are vying for the opportunity to have their careers ruined by the Oilers and because they play in different leagues, this is a rare opportunity to see them play against each other.

To get you in the mood here's an obligatory Jim O'Brien reference.
