The Lightning are having a strong season again this year, currently sitting a point out of the league lead.

Steven Stamkos is being his usual self - he is third in the league with 27 points and third in goals with 15. Tyler Johnson looks like he may be having a break-out season with only one point short of a point per game.  Surprisingly lacking so far this season has been the goaltending.  Ben Bishop is posting an underwhelming .915 SV% and Evgeni Nabokov has a downright terrible .870%.

Special teams have been a mixed bag.  Tampa's power play is third in the league, running at just under 25%.  The penalty kill isn't so good.  While not quite in the bottom of the league, their 80.4% puts them at 18th overall.  Possession wise, they sit at eighth for 5 on 5 Corsi with 52.2% and fourth for 5 on 5 Fenwick with 53.6%.

Like Tampa, the Islanders are only a single point out of the league lead.  It's been quite the season for a team that has been struggling for seasons now.

A big change for them this season is goaltending.  Halak has posted spectacular numbers in the last few games, and an overall solid .923 SV% on the season.  Probably the first stable goaltending the Isles have had in recent memory. Chad Johnson is more what they're used to with a .873 SV%.  That makes it somewhat baffling as to why Johnson has played in over a third of the games.  Start Halak in a few more games and they would probably be leading the league right now.

John Tavares leads the team with 22 points in 23 games, which is a bit of a drop in his pace compared to last season. Kyle Okposo follows him up with 20 points along with Brock Nelson, who's 20 points almost match his full season total from last year.

The Isles penalty kill is dead last in the league at only 73.1%, and the power play is somewhat middling at 20% and 12th.  Like Ottawa, their power play has an extreme home-away split, with the home PP running at over twice the percentage that the road PP does.
