The final cuts have been made and with the contract situation being what it is in Ottawa, there are few surprises among the players left off Ottawa's 23-man roster.

Mike Hoffman, a skilled winger who was considered by some to be on the bubble, still has a spot. Curtis Lazar, a 19-year-old standout, will get his nine-game tryout with the big club too. Whether it goes beyond nine games depends on his play when the games matter.
As per the official release, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Matt Puempel, Buddy Robinson, Fredrik Claesson, and Scott Greenham have been sent down, joining David Dziurzynski, Alex Grant, and Aaron Johnson who all cleared waivers yesterday.
The extra bodies (Colin Greening and it would appear Erik Condra) at forward prevent both Pageau and Puempel from staying in Ottawa. If a trade or injury frees a spot, Puempel's training camp suggests he'll be first on the call-up sheet. If Lazar goes back to junior, Pageau makes sense as a call-up.
With Marc Methot beginning the season on IR the Sens have been spared a decision on defense for the time being.
Line speculation begins in 3...2...1...
