The Binghamton Senators are off today, but tomorrow night they will attempt to clinch the Calder Cup with a win in Houston. The Baby Sens are 9-2 on the road, and now have two chances to clinch the series away from home. The Vancouver Canucks will attempt to take a 3-0 lead, when they visit the Boston Bruins tonight. The Canucks won game one with 19 seconds left and then won game two just 11 seconds into overtime.

General Sens News

  • Episode one of the Senate Reform: Road to the Draft, title coined by Peter Raaymakers, is available to view today. (Ottawa Senators)
  • A little while ago, I linked to Hockey Prospectus ranking Gabriel Landeskog at #13. They now have detailed explanations up for players ranked 11th-15th. While he is generally rated very highly, it is mentioned that Landeskog's puck skills are "fringe to below-average" and this will limit his ability to keep possession of the puck and thus lowers his offensive ceiling. (Hockey Prospectus)
  • Landeskog, will however, along with Jonathan Huberdeau, work out with the Ottawa Senators tomorrow. Dougie Hamilton will not be able to due to a scheduling conflict. (Brent Wallace)
  • Larry Brooks speculates that if the Rangers fail to sign Brad Richards, they might ask Bryan Murray about Jason Spezza, however he notes that the asking price will likely be too high. (New York Post)
  • Is Paul MacLean a good coaching candidate just because he's been the assistant coach on a successful team? Nichols notes that in the NFL the assistants to Bill Belichick, likely the best coach in North American sports right now, have not fared too well. (The 6th Sens)

More after the jump.

General Hockey News

  • A good look at how Daniel and Henrik Sedin have really blossomed in recent years as they turn 30. Daniel Alfredsson was another player they listed who was better in the later half of his career. (IIHF)
  • This is from a Leafs blog, but it is a good history of moving up on draft day. A 23rd + 54th pick was worth a 21st pick, and 19th + 59th was worth 15th. Would we want to trade both of our late 2nd rounders (48th and 59th/60th) along with our 21st for a 15th pick? Sounds a bit steep for just 6 spots. (PuckinEh)
  • It didn't take very long for Winnipeg fans to buy up 13,000 season tickets. (Globe and Mail)
