Tonight's a busy one in the NHL, with three of the four series in action, and one potentially ending tonight. The latter is our game of the evening, between the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
- Washington Capitals @ Tampa Bay Lightning, 7 p.m. (TSN, RDS) Lightning lead series 3-0.
Few would have predicted the Caps would find themselves down 3-0 to start their series, but here they are. Oddly enough, considering this is the Alex Ovechkin-led Washington Capitals we're talking about, they're being outgunned by the big names on the Lightning, especially Vincent Lecavalier and Steven Stamkos--and, of course, huge credit goes to Dwayne Roloson, who's been outstanding for Tampa Bay.
Should the Capitals find themselves ousted in the second round of the playoffs, few will be happy in the U.S. capital. If they're able to win the first one, though, and if Nicklas Backstrom and some of the other struggling Capitals can get going, though, they might have what it takes to fight back in the series.
The two other games could see teams go up 3-0 in their conference semi-finals. After just one in the first round, how many sweeps might we see in the second round of the playoffs?
- Philadelphia Flyers @ Boston Bruins, 7 p.m. (CBC, Versus) Bruins leads series 2-0.
- San Jose Sharks @ Detroit Red Wings, 8 p.m. (TSN2, Versus) Sharks lead series 2-0.
