Ottawa Senators prospect roundup: April 13, 2011

New, comments

This is the last roundup of the season. Coming up: The Elmira Jackals ended their season fighting, Binghamton enters the playoffs with momentum, David Rundblad continues to have more PIMs than points, and Caporusso defends a teammate in a very unique way.

(read on for details...)

Louie Caporusso and Michigan lost the National Championship to Minnesota-Duluth with a 2-1 overtime defeat. Since Caporusso was in his senior year at Michigan, he should be close signing his entry level contract. And after seeing this, I can't wait to watch him play in a Senators uniform.

Then there were two.

Medicine Hat is completely destroying the Red Deer Rebels with a 3-0 lead in the semi-finals, outscoring Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and company 17-2. Wacey Hamilton's numbers have gone from the bottom of his team to above point per game during the domination of the most offensive team in the WHL. Jared Cowen and the Spokane Chiefs lead the Tri-City Americans 2-1, winning game three 4-1, after just scoring one goal in game one. Both prospects are showing why they were named captains by putting up points when it matters.

The playoffs are here, and the Binghamton Senators are in. After clinching with a 2-1 overtime win, Robin Lehner got his 10th win of the season with a 4-2 win over Rochester. Geoff Kinrade scored two goals and Ryan Keller recorded three points, and was one goal away from tying his total from last season. Binghamton failed to reach 43 wins for the first time since their inaugural season in 2002-03, with a loss to Adirondack. Roman Wick was Binghamton's only goal-scorer in the 2-1 loss.

ECHL

The Elmira Jackals' season ended with a 2-1 loss in double overtime against the Greenville Road Warriors. Elmira lost the series 3-1, winning only game two by a score of 6-3.

Färjestads BK took a 3-1 series lead with yesterday's 2-1 win. David Rundblad had an assist in Skellefteå AIK's only goal. Game five is tomorrow with Färjestads BK looking to close out the series at home. Let's hope Skellefteå can make a comeback and take the series.
