There's hockey tonight as the Senators face the Flyers in Philly. Ottawa is coming off an emotional win in Boston, while Philadelphia is 4-0-1 in their last five games; including an 8-1 annhilation of Carolina last Thursday and a 5-2 destruction of Florida on Saturday. They might be feeling confident.
But Ottawa's secret weapon will be Brian Elliott, who was very strong in shutting out the Bruins. As Peter mentioned in today's Silver Nuggets, Elliott's career numbers against the Flyers: 4-0, 0.84 GAA, .969 SP, and two shutouts.
Besides Elliott, who else needs to play well?
Michalek-Fisher-Alfredsson, that's who. Tonight's opponent is leading their division and sits second overall in the Eastern Conference. The second line must contribute in a meaningful way (i.e. on the scoresheet) for any hope of success.
Nick Foligno - This is going to be the kind of game Foligno should thrive in. He's only playing fourth line minutes, but he needs to make them count with physicality and drive to the net.
Chris Phillips - Big Game Chris has been a picture of inconsistency this season. We saw the result of his poor play in Vancouver, and we can expect more of the same tonight if he can't play the steady defense we've come to expect.
Puck drop is at 7pm. Be sure to join us in the comments section for a glorious victory or a shameful defeat. There doesn't seem to be much gray area with the Senators these days.
