Prospect Patrick Wiercioch Hit In Throat With Puck

There was a scary scene in tonight's match up between the Binghamton Senators and the Norfolk Admirals when Patrick Wiercioch was struck in the throat by a puck. Wiercioch left the game and, at the time of writing, remains at the hospital. The B-Sens have released a statement saying that he is resting peacefully and being evaluated. The B-Sens have called up defenseman Mike Ratchuk from the ECHL's Elmira Jackets. Best wishes to Wiercioch on a speedy and full recovery.

Lehner, and Gryba signed

According to the Ottawa Citizen, prospects Patrick Wiercioch, Robin Lehner, and Eric Gryba have all signed with the Senators. Wiercioch is expected to join Ottawa, while Lehner and Gryba will report to Binghamton. UPDATE: Sounds like Wiercioch has not actually signed and that the Citizen jumped the gun. He's expected to sign, but it's not a done deal.

Wiercioch leaves World Junior camp with injury

Sens prospect Patrick Wiercioch will once again miss out on the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. Last year he did not make the cut, and this year, a knee injury has forced him to leave the camp on the first day. The injury was suffered prior to camp. Tyler Cuma of the Ottawa 67s will replace Wiercioch at camp. Coincidentally, Cuma also had to leave camp last year with an injury.
