The Ottawa Senators made their first round of cuts today, sending Mark Stone, Matt Puempel, Stefan Noesen, Jakub Culek, and Jordan Fransoo back to their CHL teams. Goalie Matej Matchovsky was also released from his amateur tryout.

Stone spent last season in the WHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings, where he posted 106 points. He finished third in league scoring.

Stone was a 6th round pick of the Senators in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He posted 106 points in 71 games this past season, tying him with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for third in points in the league.
