Sens Sign Michael Haley to 1 year, $700k deal

The NHL veteran played with the Rangers last season

The Ottawa Senators have signed Michael Haley to a one-year, two-way deal that is worth $700k in the NHL and $200k in the AHL.

Haley, 34, has played 270 games in the NHL and has collected 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points. If he has a role with the Ottawa Senators, it will be likely as an enforcer: he has accounted for 687 penalty minutes in those 270 career matches. More likely, Haley will play the majority of the season in Belleville in the AHL. Combined with the addition of Austin Watson, the Sens look poised  to line up some “protection” for their skilled players. Your mileage on this strategy may vary.
