Senators Pick Maxime Lajoie 133rd Overall

The Ottawa Senators have selected defenseman Maxime Lajoie from the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL.

In the 4th round of the 2016 NHL Draft, the Ottawa Senators have selected Maxime Lajoie, a left-handed defenseman from the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL.

Lajoie, a native of Quebec City, is described as a complete, two-way player with offensive upside.

During his first full season in the WHL, Lajoie tallied 40 points, finishing only behind Philadelphia Flyers prospect Ivan Provorov in the rookie defensemen scoring race. Last season, he put up 37 points in 10 less games and led Swift Current's defensemen in goals, assists and points.

The 18-year-old also wore an 'A' this season.

Lajoie was a shining star on a Broncos team that wasn't very close to making the playoffs in a disappointing year.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Goal at 1:30

- Goal at 2:10

- Assist at 5:40
