I am pretty sure Brian was there in his usual spot watching his boys this morning. This scrimmage is a good exercise to evaluate the prospects. The teams were well balanced as most games ended in a draw.
The "No Name Team" consisting of Thompson, Lindberg, Paul, Rutkowski, Tansey & Prince won the finale. The winners embraced the trophy & hoisted it at centre ice. Hogberg again was the goalie in the final.
The top three based on performance, skill & hard work were Ceci, Stone and Prince. Stoner edges CC as the top prospect today based on scoring, checking, vision & playmaking. Prince was a strong factor in all of his team's games.
Most pleasant surprises were Guptill & Eiserman. Guptill showed considerable skill & a consistent effort in all games. But Yserman demonstrated several times an impressive change in speed as he burst in off the wing to score.
Harpur seemed to be in the action all the time and managed the puck with skill most of the time.
Honourable mention goes to Lindberg & the 17 year old Summers.
Not So Much
Lazar scored a goal but tended to float like Z'Bad used to do at these camps.
The biggest disappointments based on expectations from last year were Robinson & Dunn.
Robby looked much slower and had trouble managing the puck frequently, which was no help to his teammates, such as Laser.
Vinny was ferocious last year, forcing everyone to keep their head up, but he was not the same presence.
In sum, it was fun, too cold, & the cupboard is half full.
