Senators World Junior Update #2

Richard Wolowicz

Elimination round time.

The round robin portion of the tournament is over now, so it's time for a quick update on the Sens prospects playing for their respective countries.

Curtis Lazar is up to 2 goals and 3 assists, making the score sheet in every game of the round robin. His first goal got Canada on the board against Slovakia. His second goal, well, it was a slick feed from Drouin that ended up standing as the game winner against the US. Past his stat line, his play in general during the tournament has been creating a lot of buzz.

Quentin Shore has had a slower pace than Lazar. In the 3 last games he's posted a single assist on the 8th goal against Germany, bringing his total for the round robin to 2 assists.

Marcus Hogberg did get a start, and even got the shutout from the game. Though it was against Norway - a team that came out of the round robin with no point, a -26 goal differential, and only managed 13 shots against Hogberg, to the 45 that Sweden fired on net. Still, a shutout is still a shutout even against limited competition.

Lazar is next in action against the Swiss at 11am, Shore had a 6am start and is already an hour in against Russia, and Sweden faces off against Slovakia at 1:30pm but unless something surprising happens Hogberg will likely be warming the bench.
