Presently, the Senators
are completing their 3rd year of the 3 year stretch rebuild.
As an Avid sens fan, my question to the Silver Seven Sens Nation is, are we 1 year ahead of schedule? Is the Rebuild Complete? Is our team a true playoff contender.
Without going into to much details with stats as i'm sure we are all aware of them, are top 6 forwards are set, and are looking VERY good. Considering an injury free season, (without being too cynical) which probably won't happen. The likes of Spezza, Ryan, Turris, Maccarthur, Michalek will be leading the team in the production department. Futhermore, young rookies who are poised for a break out, Zibanejad, Pageau, Conacher, Hoffman, Greening etc... All I can remember hearing is Ottawa is great defensivly, they are defensivly sound, but have a huge issue scoring, huge issue's with production.
Standing over my screen and reading this to myself, i tell myself, we did it, we have the offensive punch we were looking for. Scoring some goals, will not be something I hate hearing about my team. Hey, I haven't even added the great Karlsson to this thought.
On the Blue line, the only change i saw was Gonchar departing. Yes a big loss offensively, but he was no rock of gibraltar defensively. Joe Corvo
and Gryba should easily take the offensive hit Gonchar left with his departure.
So, under the wonderful coaching of Paul, and the bare minimum change to our defense, we should have a highly defensive team, with low goals against, as last season, and an elite force of scoring, as mentioned above.
To me, this all equates to a playoff contending team. No need to coment on Size (OTTvsMTL RND1),no need to comment on Anderson's play, no doubts linger for me. Is there anything I am missing?
If not are we a playoff contender? are we poised for a cup run? Or is there more work to be done, and where?
